O-rings NBR
Filter products
O-rings are circular seals with a round cross-section. They are produced in a wide range of materials, a broad selection of which is available from stock. Thanks to the enormous number of sizes available, there is a suitable O-ring for virtually every application. O-rings are standardised in accordance with DIN ISO 3601 (formerly DIN 3771). Their simple shape and reliable sealing function make O-rings the most widely used seals in the world. Their favourable production costs and simple installation also make O-rings particularly efficient and versatile.
The specification of an O-ring consists of
- Inner diameter (d1) in mm
- Cord thickness (d2) in mm
- Material designation
- Hardness (Shore)
Special properties of O-rings
O-rings have a number of special properties. For example, O-rings offer high operational reliability and are suitable for small installation spaces. In addition, they are easy to install, contribute to economical production and are widely available.
Applications for O-rings
O-rings are used in virtually all sectors of industrial engineering. A distinction is made between:
- Static applications: no relative movement between the sealing components
- Dynamic applications: components move relative to each other
Most O-rings are used to seal stationary or slow-moving components.
